About Us

Welcome to the Association of Sign Language Interpreters - India

Since our founding in 2007, the Association of Sign Language Interpreters – India (ASLI) has been dedicated to serving the Indian deaf community with unwavering commitment and passion. As the first organization of its kind in India, ASLI has been at the forefront of efforts to improve access and communication for deaf individuals across the nation. For far too long, the deaf community in India has faced significant barriers to accessing education, healthcare, employment, and other essential services. These challenges have resulted in widespread social exclusion and limited opportunities for personal and professional growth. Recognizing these pressing issues, ASLI has made it its mission to bring about meaningful change and ensure that every deaf person has the opportunity to lead a fulfilling and empowered life. Over the past 17 years, we have grown into a robust organization that plays a pivotal role in bridging communication gaps and fostering inclusivity for the deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals across the nation.

At ASLI, our mission is to promote and facilitate effective communication between the deaf and hearing communities in India. We strive to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and competence in the field of sign language interpreting. Our aim is to ensure that every deaf individual has equal access to information, services, and opportunities, thereby enhancing their quality of life and enabling them to fully participate in society.

As a proud member of the World Association of Sign Language Interpreters, ASLI is committed to advancing the profession of sign language interpreting through:
